The umbrella lizard
The umbrella lizard Originated in Australia, some experts say that the umbrella lizard is one of Australia's most representative lizards, with a body length of up to about 80 centimeters. The biggest characteristic of this kind of lizard is that when threatened, it will erect a huge umbrella-like cloak and open its mouth along with its body posture. Its main purpose is to protect itself from harm.
It has a long and thin tail, the tail alone accounts for 2/3 of the body length, and there are umbrella-shaped collar membranes supported by the hyoid bone on all sides of the neck. The collar of larvae is small and becomes larger as it grows. The giant lizard in the genus is gray-black, gray-brown or black-brown, with dark irregular patterns on its back and sides, and its umbrella-shaped cloak is decorated with dazzling colors, mostly regional changes. It is not very easy to identify males and females, especially in the larval stage. Generally speaking, adult males are much larger than females, with larger heads and necks, longer tails, and protrusions below the cloaca. The body color is more obvious and the sex is more gentle.
