Physical Characteristics of the Papillon Dog
Papillon Dog (Definite Introduction)

The ideal shoulder height of an adult Papillon should be 20-28cm, and the ideal body weight should be 4-4.5kg. The proportion of the body is that the length of the body is slightly greater than the height at the shoulders. This dog has a small head, flat width, a slightly arch-shaped head, and a round, black nose. The brow angle is significant. The snout is sharp. In the center of the head, there is an obvious strip of white spotted hair sandwiched by the main color patterned hair of the body, which may be wide or narrow.
Eyes: Dark complexion, round, not protruding, of average size, with warning eyes. The inner corner of the eye and the short end of the eye are in a straight line. Black eyes.
Ears: Big ears, arranged separately, with the roots at the back of the head. The variety with abundant cosmetic hair is better. The ears are erect or droopy. The ears are large and rounded at the tips. They are located on both sides of the head relative to the back. The erect ears stretch diagonally, resembling soaring butterfly feathers. When alerting, each ear is held back to create an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the head. The auricle should be strong enough to keep the entire ear in an upright position. The drop-ear type is similar to the common Papillon we know, and is very similar in other aspects, but the ears are drooping and pointed completely downward.
Disadvantages: small ears, too pointed ear tips, too high ear position; one ear is erect or part of the ear is droopy.
Head: The head is small. The head is of medium width, slightly arched between the ears. Where the tone joins the head, the surface of the stop is particularly clear.
Body shape: tall, not too thick, with flat chest and straight back.
Neck, Topline, Body: Neck length is average. Topline: Straight and level. The chest is deep and medium, with well sprung ribs. The abdomen is aggressively closed.
Forequarters: The shoulders are clear and slanted back with no movement. The forelimbs are slender and fine-boned but must be straight. Dewclaws may be removed. The feet are thin and long (the toes are not turned in or turned out.
Hindquarters: properly developed and at a suitable angle. The hind legs are slender and have thin bones. When viewed from the back, the legs are parallel. The hocks are not turned in. Or turned outward. If there are dewclaws on the hind feet, they must be removed. The claws are thin and long, and the toes are not turned in or turned out.
Hands and feet: The bones are thick and parallel, and there are fur on the back of the forelimbs and fur on the hind limbs. Like trousers. The dewclaws on the forelimbs can be removed, and if there are dewclaws on the hind feet, they must be removed.
Feet: Slender like rabbit feet, the toes are particularly raised and covered with fine hairs. And long, the toes should not turn in or turn out.
Tail: The tail is long, with a high base. The tail has large feather-like fur and bends toward the back. The tail is long, set high at the base, and rests on the back. The tail is decorated with long and free feathers. The feathers on the tail hang on the sides of the body. Disadvantages: The tail is short; it may be too short if it does not rest on the back.
Coat: The coat is rich, long, fine, silk-like, free and easy, straight and elastic. The hair on the back and sides of the body is straight. The chest is richly feathered. No undercoat. The hair on the head, muzzle, back of the forelimbs and hind limbs from paws to hocks is tight and short. The edges of the ears are beautifully feathered, and the insides are covered with long, soft and smooth hair. There is long feathering on the back of the front legs, which narrows to the ankle. The area from the hind legs to the hock is covered by "breeches" (also called culottes). The hair on the feet is short, but the fine feathers probably cover the tops of the feet.
Color: The ideal color is often white with patterns of other colors. On the head, the color must be that the other colors except white cover the two ears, front and back, and extend to the eyes, and the middle cannot be closed. A solid-colored head, starting from the tip of the nose and with a white vein in the center of the face, is preferred. Symmetry of the facial pattern is very important. Don't worry about the size, position, shape, or even the presence or absence of colored patterns on the body. As long as the eye circles, nose and lips are full of black pigment, there is no way to tell what the color is. The following situations are serious faults: colors other than white cannot cover the ears (front and back), or cannot extend from the ears to the eyes. If the butterfly-shaped appearance is not used, it is not a serious fault to have a white border around the ears or spread a little white hair on the rest of the face. All white dogs or dogs that are not white are disqualified.
Gait: brisk, fast, calm and graceful. There should be no paddling movement during walking or stiffness of the hips.
