Pets Turtle
In the stone turtle breeding industry, some mainly breed meat turtles, and some mainly breed pet turtles. Due to the different modes of breeding and sales, the two types of collective breeding cannot be mixed, otherwise efficiency will be reduced and even losses will be incurred. Therefore, what kind of stone turtle must be selected based on what to manage.
Categories based on pet turtle breeding: Pet turtle breeding only requires the number of seedlings, and more breeding turtles must be cultured in a limited space, so individual small and brightly colored Anwei species ( Small green-headed stone turtle, this species has bright colors and is very popular in the pet market. It is generally small (the average weight of an adult turtle is 400 grams), has a small food intake and slow growth rate. It consumes a large amount of food in very low feed costs and limited places. Turtle hatchlings. It is the best choice for breeders who have experience in pet turtle management.
Breeding mainly for meat turtles: Breeding for meat turtles requires heavy weight of adults, so species with fast growth speed and large individual sizes must be used. In the current meat turtle breeding industry, the breeding of stone turtles There are three types for farmers to refer to.
1. Vietnamese Stone Turtle: This species has the highest edible and medicinal value, the fastest growth rate, and is the largest species among the stone turtles (the average weight of an adult turtle is 1500 grams) , the average yield in three years of breeding under ecological breeding mode can reach 1,000 grams, which is the most expensive variety in the meat market. However, the prices of seeds and seedlings are on the high side, making them suitable for home and garden farming.
2. Fujian Stone Turtle(Big Green Head) This species grows slowly and is small in size (an adult turtle weighs 800 grams individually). It is cultured under ecological breeding methods. It can reach 600 grams in three years. The price in the meat turtle market is slightly lower than that of Vietnamese stone turtles. However, the price of this type of breeding turtles and turtle hatchlings is relatively low, which is more suitable for breeders with small groups and large sites.
3. Hybrid turtle (also known as Guangxi water turtle): It is a hybrid species of a Vietnamese stone turtle male and a Fujian or Anwei stone turtle female. Analysis and verification revealed that this tortoise only started cross-breeding in 2001. Its offspring have not laid eggs this year. It is estimated that the third generation of tortoise hatchlings will not be born until 2007. The growth rate of this species is uneven. After three years of breeding under ecological breeding mode, a small amount can reach 700-800 grams. Some of them are 300-500 grams. Because the breeding time of this type is still short, there is no definite data on its development status and individual limits, and it remains to be determined in the future.
In short, no matter which species you breed, you must choose and decide your own species based on your own resource use, site conditions and sales situations, and strive to produce the greatest economic efficiency. Because the prices of various types vary greatly, you must identify the type when buying seeds to avoid damage.
