Mastiff dogs
Mastiff male Ideally, the minimum height at the withers should be 30 inches; for females, the minimum height at the withers should be 27.5 inches. The proportions of the body should be large, with body length (the distance from chest to buttocks) slightly greater than height at the shoulders. The depth of the body provides more height than the length of the legs. The deeper and wider the body, the better.
Morphological characteristics
[Head]
From all angles, the surface of the head gives people a very tall memory. Width is very important.
Eyes: The positions are relatively open, the size is normal, and cannot be too large. His face was warning but gentle. Eye color is brown. The darker the face, the better. Can't see the nictitating membrane. Pale eyes or an aggressive complexion are faults.
Ears: Compared with the head, the ears appear small. V-shaped, slightly rounded at the top. The auricles are slightly thin and widely spaced, located on both sides of the head and at the top of the spreading line on the surface of the skull. When he rests, his ears are pressed against his cheeks. The ears are dark in color, the darker the better, the same as the tone of the tone.
Head: broad, slightly flat between the ears, slightly curved forehead, showing wrinkles when focusing on something, which is his special characteristic. The brow bones (the bones above the eyes) are excessively prominent. The muscles on the forehead are clear and the cheeks are very strong. There is a longitudinal wrinkle in the center of the forehead. It spreads backwards between the eyes and stops halfway on the head. The stop is located in the center of the eyes, clear but not stiff.
Tone: The length of the breath is half the length of the head, so the head is divided into three equal parts, one part is the face, and the second part is the skull. In other words, the distance from the nose to the stop is half the distance from the stop to the occipital bone. The ratio of the circumference of the breath (ideally the circumference 1/2 from the eyes to the nose) and the circumference of the skull (the circumference in front of the ears) is 3/5. The muzzle is short and broad, and the width between the eyes and the end of the nose is almost average. The top image is truncated, that is, blunt, and the image is truncated into a rectangular shape, resulting in a right-angled appearance of the front face. The depth from nose to chin is very deep, the chin is wide, slightly rounded in shape, and the tone and expression are dark, the darker the better.
Disadvantages: Snipe-hound tone.
Nose: Hospitality, dark complexion, the darker the better. The nostrils are flat (neither overturned nor overturned).
Lips: The lips fill the drooping foot and modify the rectangular surface of the head. Teeth: Canine teeth are healthy, widely spaced, and the jaws are strong.
Bite: It is a scissor bite, excessive mandibular overbite and immobility fault management. If the lips are closed properly, the teeth should not be visible.
[Neck, topline, body]
Neck: Strong, well muscled, slightly arched, of moderate length. The closer it is to the shoulders, the thicker the neck. Excessive dryness of the neck (skin that does not look too relaxed).
Topline: Straight, level, and firm, not sunken, arched, or sagging sharply behind the buttocks.
Chest: Broad, deep, round and well developed between the forelegs. At least it spreads to the elbow. The front chest chakra is clear, the sternum extends forward than the front of the shoulder blades, and the ribs are well expanded.
Lower abdominal line: reasonably lifted, but not exaggerated. Back: Muscular, strong and straight. Viewed from the back, the buttocks are slightly rounded.
Waist: wide and muscular.
Tail: The seat is suitable for height and can spread to the hock or lower. The tail is broad at the base and tapered at the end, hanging straight when resting and slightly bent when moving, but never over the top.
[Forequarters]
Shoulders: Excessively sloping, strong and muscular, never loose. The angle of the forequarters is equal to that of the hindquarters.
Legs: Straight, thick and widely separated, with heavy bones.
Elbow: parallel to the body. Ankle: Thick and slightly sloping.
Feet: large, round and compact, with well-arched toes and preferably black toenails.
[Hindquarters]
Hindquarters: Broad, broad and muscular.
Strong thighs: clear legs and thick hocks.
Knee joints: The angle is moderate, equivalent to that of the forequarters.
Hind legs: separated from each other, parallel to each other when viewed from the back. When the hind legs below the hock are accurately "reversed" and standing upright, the plumb line at the end of the hindquarters should pass through the front of the paws. This eliminates overly straight hocks. Because the hock angle also affects the knee joint angle, overly straight knee joints are also eliminated.
Disadvantages: Too straight knee joint.
[Coat]
The outer coat is straight, thick and slightly short in length. The undercoat is deep, short, and lies flat against the body. The coat on the abdomen, tail, and hind legs should not be too long and cause "bangs" to appear. Disadvantages: The coat is too long or wavy.
[Color]
Camel, apricot, or maybe patterned. The pattern must be camel or apricot as the background color, and it must be completely covered by very dark stripes. The tone, ears and nose should be dark, and the darker the color, the better. The eye sockets should be of a similar color and should be extended to the space between the eyes. Small white fragments on the chest are allowed. Disadvantages: too much white on the chest or white appearing in other parts of the body, lack of pigment in the mask, ears, and nose.
[Gait]
The gait shows power and strength, with the hind legs providing sufficient power and the front legs moving steadily and extending well. During exercise, the hands and feet move straight forward; when the speed decreases, it is always from a stroll to a trot, with the feet approaching the core line of the body to maintain stability.
[Temperament]
Combining solemn and excellent qualities, bold and gentle. More expensive than happy is the true style of Mastiff. Shy or cruel dogs are faults. On the other hand, in competitions, beware of dogs that are deceived by excessive praise.
