Yellow Cutworm
The larvae of the yellow cutworm are very similar to the young cutworms. The main difference is that the mature larvae are 33-43 mm long, yellow-brown, with no obvious particles on the body surface, shiny and wrinkled. There are 4 hair pieces on each section on the back of the abdomen, the 2 on the front and the 2 on the back are similar in size. Adult: body length 14-19mm, wingspan 32-43mm, grayish brown to yellowish brown. The forehead has a blunt cone-shaped protrusion with a depression in the center. The forewings are yellowish-brown, with scattered small brown spots. Each transverse line is a double arc but most of them are not obvious. The kidney stripes, ring stripes and sword stripes are obvious and surrounded by thin dark brown edges. The other parts are yellowish brown; the hind wings are grayish white. , translucent.
Egg: oblate, flat bottom, yellow-white, with more than 40 wavy twisted longitudinal ridges, about 15 of which reach the spermaper area, and less than 15 transverse ridges, forming a reticular pattern.
Larva: Body length 33-45mm, head yellowish brown, body light yellowish brown, no obvious particles on the body surface, body multi-wrinkled and light, two large yellowish brown spots on the rump plate, with a broken center and a small There are more black spots, and there are hairy patches on the back of each section of the abdomen. The last two are slightly larger than the first two.
Pupa: Body length 16-19mm, reddish brown. There are 9-10 rows of very dense small punctures on the back of abdominal segments 5-7, and a pair of thick spines at the end of the abdomen.
